Test Engineer

We are seeking someone with a technical background lead the engineering process for new and prototype testing. The job will require testing of machines, power electronics, magnetic bearing systems and integrated systems for development and repeat projects. Candidate must also be willing to provide commissioning and field service support as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write test plans with engineering inputs, execute prototype test plans, document and publish test reports Coordination with internal teams for product testing related to engineering, production and manufacturing efforts
  • Communication and coordination with customer/stakeholders on field service and support matters
  • Test and diagnostics and field support reporting both internal and external
  • General oversight of the testing facility, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, safety, organization and cleanliness
  • Evaluate options, propose solutions and make decisions when required
  • Collaboration and support of commissioning and field service including installation support, troubleshooting, diagnosis, data collection and analysis support customer requirements.

Qualifications

Skills, Experience, Education and Abilities

  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical/Electrical) with 5 years experience is desirable
  • Ability to read schematics, engineering drawings and technical data sheets
  • Ability to use data acquisition and diagnostic instrumentation – oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, common electrical meters
  • Hands-on experience with rotating machinery and variable frequency drives a plus
  • System integration experience, specifically with electro-mechanical systems, a plus
  • RS-232/ 485 communication, MODBUS protocols
  • DSP based buck/ boost converters, AC-DC conversion equipment, motor drives
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Comfort in technical communication required for customer support and training

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Candidate must be able to lead a team both on and off-site.

Physical Demands

Time will mostly be spent in the test facility, with support in the office as required. Candidate must also be willing to travel to the field to support commissioning or field service, and thus must be comfortable with travel up to 25% of the time for this requirement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
