Our Facility for FreeSpin® In-line Turboexpander Energy Recovery Systems

Sapphire Technologies  has a state-of-the-art test facility for its FreeSpin® In-line Turboexpander energy recovery systems. The systems help in recovering energy at high efficiency. Test cells are utilized to verify and validate the operating conditions of the FreeSpin® system.

The validation tests at the facility include magnetic bearing load testing, full-speed operation of the generator and testing of the backup bearings at different design speeds. The engineers at Sapphire use bench testing to validate individual components and functionally test full assemblies. Further testing is done at the system level to ensure conformance to system level requirements.

Intellectual Property

Sapphire Technologies has been granted all background intellectual property for its FreeSpin® In-line Turboexpanders by Calnetix Technologies. This includes permanent magnet machines, variable speed drives, magnetic bearings and system level controls. All patents have been developed internally and are protected and controlled in-house. Sapphire is filing its own application related patents for FreeSpin’s use in hydrogen and natural gas applications.
