Sapphire Technologies is located on a seven-acre campus in Southern California, which includes a state-of-the-art factory to manufacture and test our FreeSpin® In-line Turboexpanders (FITs).
In-House Manufacturing and Testing Capabilities
Sapphire Technologies’ engineering and manufacturing teams are co-located at its factory in Cyprus, California, where a wide range of assembly and test capabilities are offered. The factory completes mechanical integration of the turboexpander-generator and electrical assembly of the power electronics. Prior to shipment for field installation, each FIT must pass factory acceptance testing including active magnetic bearing load testing and full-speed operation of the turboexpander-generator. Our engineers use bench testing to validate individual components and functionally test full assemblies. Further testing is done at the system level to ensure conformance to system level requirements.
Intellectual Property
FIT is protected by a robust portfolio of intellection property (IP) protections. Sapphire Technologies holds patent and trade secrets related to FIT’s active magnetic bearings, power electronics, permanent magnet generator, system architecture, and system integration. In addition to turboexpander-generators, our IP portfolio has broad applicability to different rotating equipment applications.
